Wearing his suit, neck tie, skinny pants and trademark bad hair day, once again I heard Ely croon, shout, hiss and sing.

"This is going to be epic" Ely said when he introduced Magasin.
That song's orchestra version owned the show though Ely's acoustic version of With a Smile left me teary eyed. Ewan ko ba, everytime he sings his songs, I always imagine those who gave him inspiration when he wrote 'em.Then I would ask, ano kayang feeling ni girly nung narinig nyang kinanta ni ely "huwag kang matakot, di mo ba alam nandito lang ako...di kita pababayaan kailanman"?
In between songs, unlike other performers, Ely does not talk to the audience that much. He just stands there being cute and all saglit lang ang gap. (I sound gay there but who gives a shit that's the truth) Sometimes he would say his one-liners before and after the song. Pinaka favorite kong linya nya kagabi: "Anong sinabi ni Richard Poon?"
Bitin. Lahat ng nasa loob ng music Museum hindi agad tumatayo nung magexit na si Ely at ang buong orchestra. Humupa na ang sigawan ng "More! More!" At chant na "Ely! Ely!" pero di na sya lumabas. But nevertheless,.. Masaya pa din. Si Ely yun eh ( only a fan would know ).
Here are some lines that moved me last night:
"gusto mo bang..." (alapaap) The chuwariwap girls sang this line over and over along with the bass lines of alapaap's intro as if they were inviting us to some magical show.
"di nais tumanda na nagsisisi. uhaw sa mga dapat na nangyari." (santo) Perfect example of expectation VS Reality
"di naman ako manyakis tulad ng iba. ipapangako ko sa'yo na igagalang ka" (ligaya) Funny line when you first hear it but if you come to think about the whole thought,these coulde be the most sincere words you can hear from a man.
"huwag mo ng itanong sa akin di ko din naman sasabihin" (huwag mo ng itanong) It's like the polite version of saying "shut up. i'm not cool with telling you my story."
"look forward to tomorrow but can I leave yesterday behind?" (lightyears) My all time favorite song. I did not cry this time. Baka naka move on na ako. Pero I remember wisphering to Ioni's ears when Ely sang that last line:"Yun yun eh."
"kapag kausap ka mundo'y nagiiba. sanay nandito ka. ngunit bago ang lahat sya nga pala, over 18 ka na ba?" (over18) Ever experienced getting lost in a conversation with someone? Not because you're not listening but you both get lost in a garden of whatever that is. You're talking pero to you you're waltzing away from the real world. Pero yung pahabol na tanong, Over18 ka na ba? This may have a different interpretation but to me it's like asking the girl, "ready ka na ba? o magsasawa ka din ..iiwanan mo din ako."
"Iba na ang yong ngiti, Iba na ang yong tingin, nagbago ng lahat sayo. Sana'y hindi nakita sana'y walang problema pagkat kulang ang dala kong pera na pambili..woohoo..ba pambili sa mukha mong maganda"

Yes. It's the whole chorus of the song. I thought of putting this part into a seperate blog dahil gusto ko pa pahabain pero ok na din dito.
Kahit ang totoong storya netong Magasin ay isang babae na naging bomba star na may past with someone na kilala ni Ely, in some ways relate na relate pa din ako sa ibang aspeto ng buhay eh. It's like when you lost someone whom you thought what you had was perfect. There would come a time in the middle of your moving on phase may mga mandidistract sa'yong pictures at tweets at masasabi mong sana hindi mo na lang nakita yung picture, sana di mo na lang nabasa yung tweet.. para walang problema. Yung part na kulang yung dalang pera parang yung feeling na wala kang pamasahe to go abroad to save your dying relationship..Pero it always comes back to this line:"Nagbago nang lahat sa'yo" that someone you loved is not the same person anymore so kung ayawan na, ayawan na. Bitter much?
"akala ko ay cool ako" (maselang bahaghari) Times when you thought you belong,but at the end of the day there comes a self realization you're a failure. Ely told us the back story of this song. Somewhere in 1998 dalawang laptop daw ang nawala sa kanya..may nabanggit syang parang crisis in identifying himself. Basta parang ganon yung idea.
